Thanks for trusting me!

We've been... I've been (I like referring to me as we...especially when I'm including my wife is the decision process) busy lately and wasn't quite sure what to blog about.  Until a recent session happened and thought it might be a good one to share since High School Seniors in Brighton, Howell, Milford and Hartland are making their Portrait appointments!  One of our most recent clients was Maggie!  A High School Senior that wasn't afraid to trust me when I came up with an idea for her Senior Portrait Session.  I had a chance to get creative (a bit) and Maggie had to try to smile and pose at the expense of my idea!
When I spoke with Maggie a couple weeks ago, she said "I want to do something different", which to usually has one real translation: I don't want my pictures to be boring!

After more questions and more research, I had a pretty good idea as to the kind of young women Maggie is.  She's brave and funny and not afraid to be who she is.  I know that sounds cliche', but trust me, if you know Maggie, you'll know that there's no other way to put it.

The tricky part about these water images was that the sand was really soft, so when I put the chair in the water, it began to sink more than I wanted.  Then there was the fact that I didn't know the depth of the "shallow end" dropped off quick!  So now I had a sinking chair and a sinking chair that was going to fall backwards if Maggie leaned too far back!

I was hoping that I'd find some bricks or something in the nearby woods, but no luck.  We finally came up with a solution that worked and after getting everything just how we wanted, we started shooting.  Then the sun dipped which meant move the chair again.  Oh boy.

Maggie was such a great sport through it all.  I kept reminding her that being a super model was hard work, but she was just along for the ride taking it all in like a champ!

After our adventures in the water, we stopped by my new favorite blue wall, grabbed some cute shots, added a truck (Maggie likes her truck) and her best friend (Maggie likes her best friend too) and off to the Farm we go to finish up!

As we began losing the sun quickly, we still managed to get some great shots with some great light!  One of the inspiration images Maggie sent me had a setting sun "golden hour" look to it.

In the end, Maggie got exactly what she was wanting in her photographer and session.  Something different, a setting sun, a horse and her truck.  Hey... the girl knows what she wants!
